Firemen have heroes, too

Herb Huseland provides a swell story re: all those Kootenai Electric and Avista linemen and employees working 24/7 to get our power back on:

“We lost power in Bayview at 6:15 yesterday afternoon. After a chilly night, I drove to cda twice. Once to get a book at Hastings and a cup of coffee there also.

“Then just after returning, my neighbor, Yvonne knocked on the door. Her care taker didn’t show up to take her into cda for a medical appt, so I drove in the second time. When we returned we had great hopes that our power was back on, based on two KootenI Electric trucks headed for Bayview as we left the other direction. Bingo, turning at three the lights were back on, after 20 hours. Having left my freezer door shut, I lost no frozen food. I now have a new appreciation for electricity.

“Driving north on hwy 95 I stopped at a light. The rig in front of me had a sign on the back window. Firemen have their heroes, too. It depicted a lineman up a power poll. How timely was that?”

Question: We applaud police officers and firefighters for the terrific job most of them do. But we don’t think about the fast response of power company lineman who have to venture outside in all kinds of weather to fix the messes causes by inclement weather. Thoughts?
