Regulate, but be wary

I agree there has to be changes made in the regulation of gun sales. Background checks should be universal and comprehensive.

On the other hand, I no longer trust our government with the knowledge of all gun ownership. There have been so many laws made to the detriment of the population in general that I no longer believe official always have our well-being in mind when legislating.

Whatever solution is finally reached has to also include checks and balances on how that information is used by government. As a veteran, that distrust is painful to me, but necessary.
