Choose true representation

Joe Pakootas threw his U. S. representative campaign jump-off Oct. 8. Once being introduced to him and his staff, I donned one of his T-shirts. They called it a jump-off, inferring some type of leap. With his opponent’s accumulated, big-shot campaign war chest, it is quite a financial leap.

I like Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, despite her lack of attendance and leadership, and disconnect with many of us. Her family values are impressive. But Pakootas has impressive family values, too, and much more. He connected with me as a true representative should.

Wonder why so many people in rural America just go with a political party, often against their own personal interests? It seems to be a bit redundant here in Eastern Washington’s rural Pend Oreille County.

Maybe more people will burst out of that mythical rural partisan bubble this time around. The best representative, not the best partisan financial manipulator, is the best job applicant.
