Kinnear better choice for council

Please vote for Lori Kinnear for Spokane City Council. Mayor David Condon has amassed an enormous campaign war chest. He has raised more than all of the other candidates running for City of Spokane offices combined. The mayor is trying to buy the Spokane City Council by spending his war chest on those races, in order to stack the council with his supporters.

The strong mayor system that we adopted 15 years ago will only work if we have a strong, independent city council that isn’t beholden to the mayor’s office. A check of Public Disclosure Commission records shows the mayor has made contributions in three council races up for grabs this year. He has made high-profile endorsements. His campaign has paid for advertising and push-polling for council races.

What he wants is a rubber stamp with his puppets serving on the council. The Kinnear campaign can’t afford to outspend him, so what we voters need to do is send a strong message to the strong mayor that council elections can’t be bought.

Lori Kinnear has the experience and expertise to bring a strong, independent voice to city council, and will serve the people, not the mayor.
