Conservatives’ voting checklist
The Spokesman-Review is a good place to get information about candidates and ballot measures. I appreciate the questions they ask and the background information provided, i.e. the fascinating Oct. 9 election article by Nicholas Deshais about the activist political background of Spokane City Council assistants. Sounds like voters get two liberals for the price of one.
For a conservative, in-depth evaluation of candidates and ballot measures, I go to www.WeBelieveWeVote.com. Candidates with three- to five-star recommendations will make policies that create greater opportunities to build a community that is healthier, safer, more prosperous and can enjoy greater freedom; a place where the next generation and businesses will want to settle.
The criteria used to evaluate a candidate’s answers to some tough questions include these four ideals: 1) Respect for the U.S. Constitution as our Founding Fathers intended; 2) Respect for human life and the free exercise of conscience; 3) Respect for the priority of marriage and family over the state; 4) Understanding that adults should be self-sufficient unless physically unable, relying on a free market system and the responsible use of private property, lower taxes and less government regulation.
