Kienholz has impressed

I’m living and working abroad but had lived in Spokane for several years. I read your Oct. 14 article “Teacher squares off against nonprofit leader in Spokane school board race.”

Paul Schneider sounded complacent and resigned, as if sure of the outcome. Patricia Kienholz came across as hungry, eager, studied, prepared, determined, learned and clear-sighted, as looking in from the outside, but not less informed because of it.

She’s a big push giving needed momentum and vision. I have been following over the last several months the race for Spokane Public Schools Position 4, and been impressed by the many comments made by educators and others in various formats. Impressed, too, by Kienholz’s endurance, hard work and patience. Shortcomings were acknowledged and clarification given without acrimony. I like humility in all its forms regardless of profession. It speaks to character and strength.

Not all things can be reduced to education, studies and statistics. Deep wisdom brings a wide, measured, comprehensive approach. After carefully reading through the article, I felt compelled to offer my impressions and encouragement to Kienholz to continue to scale from the outside, up and over the top.
