Stratton is frank, clear

Once again election season is upon us, and once again we find ourselves fighting the white noise of campaign rhetoric to understand the candidates’ real positions and agenda.

There are two decent candidates for Spokane City Council District 3. One makes the usual promises: more efficient government, less business regulation and such. Yet he offers no specifics.

The other candidate, Karen Stratton, is honest about her core issues, tells you how she plans to make them happen and tells you what is truly happening in City Hall. She called out abuses by the mayor’s staff. She insisted on due process when another council member faced removal from the Spokane Regional Health District board.

And while she supports sick and safe leave, she refused to allow it to be passed without input from the business sector, knowing the same business groups would oppose her election. That kind of frankness is not only refreshing but genuine. Couple that attitude with her experience inside and out of City Hall, and you have an effective advocate on the City Council. I urge all to vote for Karen Stratton.
