ignite cda responds to Sen. Souza

Some key points: In response to Souza’s question about the legality of the name change because the organization doesn’t identify itself as an urban renewal agency, Berns says the legal name of ignite cda is “Coeur d’Alene Urban Renewal Agency” and ignite cda is a dba name (doing business as).

In response to the question of how the rebranding campaign communicate ignite cda is an urban renewal agency, Berns once again replies that the legal name has not been changed and can be found on the organization’s website, but their research showed “urban renewal” had negative connotations in the area.

His response to Souza’s question about the use of taxpayer money on a public relations campaign? “ignite cda views this initiative as a communication outreach effort not a public relations campaign….”

You can read both letters in their entirety here , including the price tag for the communications outreach effort: $29,000 for phase one and $ 54,209 for the second phase.
