Council elections attract 3 so far
The City Council elections in Coeur d’Alene have attracted three contestants so far: Incumbents Ron Edinger (Seat 1) and Dan Gookin (Seat 3) and challenger Dan English (for Seat 5, currently held by Councilman Steve Adams). City Clerk Renata McLeod tells Huckleberries that her office has handed out filing papers to only 6 people so far, characterizing the process this year as “very slow turn-ins.” McLeod encourages candidates to file their papers with her office as soon as possible because the five names on them have to be verified by the Kootenai County Clerk’s Office. The process takes a little time. The filing deadline is 5 p.m. Friday.
