Mayor, Christie, Tony back Edinger

I usually glance at the signatures on a candidate’s filing papers. I want to know who’s in his or her corner politically. Much of the time, the candidate rounds up a spouse and neighbors to provide the 5 qualified signatures necessary to put his or her name on the ballot. I was surprised when I saw three of the names on the filing papers of long-time council member Ron Edinger: Mayor Steve Widmyer, human-rights leader Tony Stewart and North Idaho College board Chairwoman Christie Wood. Christie, of course, is also the Coeur d’Alene police spokeswoman and a leader in the local human rights task force. You can read the signatures for Edinger here .
