Pot sales continue surge in August

Spokane County marijuana stores reported $4.2 million in sales in August, bouncing back after the new tax structure caused a dip in July’s revenue total.

Sativa Sisters on Trent Avenue reported the most sales of the county’s 15 stores last month, with $581,453 worth of product sold. Greenlight had been the top-selling store in Spokane County every month so far in 2015, but the store closed down for several days after a robbery occurred there Aug. 3 .

All sales figures were reported this week by the Washington Liquor and Cannabis Board .

The five stores that sold the most marijuana in August were:

  1. Sativa Sisters - $581,453
  2. Greenlight - $552,638
  3. Satori - $525,453
  4. Cinder (Valley) - $450,912
  5. Cinder (Division) - $384,861

In total, Spokane County stores reported sales 10.6 percent higher than July, when a new tax structure that imposed a single excise tax at the point of sale went into effect .

Statewide, Washington’s 173 retail marijuana shops reported sales of $66 million in August, up from $59 million in July.

Growers reported more sales in August than July as well, with 33 producers posting revenues of $361,582. The five marijuana producers reporting the most last month in revenue were (location in parentheses):

  1. Mean Green (Cheney) - $115,734
  2. D & L Enterprises (Cheney) - $109,516
  3. Montgomery Avenue Growers (Cheney) - $58,323
  4. Family Plot (Cheney) - $19,462
  5. Freedom Farms (Spokane Valley) - $14,219

Processors reported slightly less income in August as compared to July on Thursday. Revenues of $2.9 million were reported by 58 companies, down from $2.95 million the month before. Processors sometimes post their revenue later than retail shops, indicating August may turn out to be a more lucrative month than July in the long run.

The five marijuana processors reporting the most revenue last month were:

  2. Growstate-One - $350,913
  3. Blue Roots Cannabis - $171,394
  4. Farmer J’s - $130,101
  5. The Happy Crowd - $106,931
