Teach Golden Rule

I know this is not a good time to suggest adding to public school curriculum. This is a time when we citizens dumb-down future generations as we defund education to line our pockets.

Nevertheless, I suggest human relationships be added as a required course. It depresses me to see how many choose to ignore the Golden Rule. How can so many do unto others they know darn well they wouldn’t tolerate were it done unto them; a dishonest way to deal with others and impossibly arrogant.

Sex education is controversial because some think it’s an overreach. However, many of those who believe it’s overreach won’t deal with it at home, and apparently the Golden Rule is ignored as well.

A better understanding of how to get along in an ever-more-crowded world is as important as a better understanding of sex.

Think of the possibilities: less divorce, less war, less violence. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to truly be as exceptional as so many Americans think we already are?
