Fires take toll on wildlife

I understand that the ranchers in both Washington and Idaho lost livestock, and consequently their income due to the fires raging through the forests. I feel deeply saddened for them and their loss.

I also, however, as a lifelong environmentalist, feel saddened and a little sickened that there was no mention of the enormous loss of forests and habitat for wildlife, with a rich heritage we were so fortunate to have. The thought of the life that lived in these forests that lost their homes and ran for their lives while their forests burned is heartbreaking.

What happened to the cattle that were found burned also happened to deer, bear, birds, etc., that lived in these forests. Nature’s toll from these fires is heartbreaking for the ranchers, and for the loss of forest; home for many creatures.
