Show some compassion
As we approach another election season, there has been an increase in letters written for the purpose of attacking those who are politically different. While I am all for free speech and intelligent discourse, there is no excuse for using this paper to commit verbal warfare. Perhaps it is time to put down your war clubs and show a little compassion toward others.
The next time you sit down to a Sunday dinner, remember the billions of people that go to bed hungry every day. Whenever I get a drink of water, I can’t help but think of the Sudanese women who walk for hours to get enough water to meet their basic needs. This is why I send aid.
Some people will undoubtedly counter with some excuse about first helping your own. If this burden is truly on your heart, then act on it. This should not be used as a reason to not give. If you can’t afford to give money, then offer yourself as a volunteer.
In closing, I will address the homeless. Be grateful that you are not a political refugee. This is still a free country. You can always look up (to Jesus).
