New chief should be local

Eighty-two large for police department “customer service and marketing”? Now that Chief Frank Straub is out, maybe they won’t need that. I wondered why he was always photographed with a scowl, but evidently it did serve his original purposes.

Maybe now we can also get rid of the Los Angeles ghetto black-and-white paint schemes on the police cars, and go back to Spokane-friendly all-white. (We’re talking paint colors here.)

Anyway, this police department customer wants his taxpayer dollars deployed to cops on the street, and if we can’t find a qualified police chief from among the local $100,000-plus salaried officers, maybe they’re making way too much. To those who want a nationwide search, I suggest that they pay for it.
