‘Boy-Z’ sours ‘The Grinder’ debut
In the Idaho Statesman, columnist Michael Deeds spotlights “The Grinder,” a sitcom starring Rob Lowe and Fred Savage, which debuted last night. Deeds, of course, focused on the mispronunciation of Boise by an actor portraying a journalist :
New Yorkers don’t normally fall all over themselves when a television show is set — or even filmed — in their city. So why is there so much Treasure Valley interest in “The Grinder,” a new Fox sitcom set in Boise that stars Rob Lowe and Fred Savage? Because, hey, we’re a small town. And we act like a small town. (“Not that there’s anything wrong with that,” to quote a famous sitcom that took place in the Big Apple.) Tuesday’s IdahoStatesman.com article about “The Grinder” premiering Sept. 29 was the second most-read post that day (sandwiched between two Boise State football stories, naturally).
