Library retirees deserve raise

I am sending this letter on behalf of my spouse, who retired over 15 years ago from the Spokane City library system. She spent approximately 26 years of dedicated service working for the library system. During these past 15-plus years, there has not been even one cost-of-living raise for this group of retirees.

What has this group of people done to have been ignored over the past 15 years? Why can’t they be recognized periodically for the dedicated service they provided during the years of their service and be given a cost-of-living increase every once in a while as others in the city of Spokane have? Do the good citizens of Spokane realize how these retirees have been treated? Are there any other city departments being treated in this manner?

We challenge any and all Spokane citizens and/or other groups of city retirees who have strong feelings concerning this subject to also write in and let their feelings be known.
