Tie raises to streets

The City Council shouldn’t get a 44 percent raise until there is a 44 percent improvement in the condition of our streets. There are Third World countries with better streets than Spokane. Where is the money for the raises going to come from? Probably from the general fund, which pays for some of our street maintenance, which means less street repair

The system they are now using is not working because our streets are falling apart faster than they are repairing them. We need a street utility fee on our utility bills to be set aside for the purpose of repairing our streets. Look at your utility bill and see the fees that are paid to the wastewater department. They have enough money to build huge storm water tanks and many improvements.

Until the City Council can come up with a plan to improve our streets, no raises.
