Media blackout on protests

Really, Spokesman Review? Shame on you and all of the other news outlets participating in the media blackout of Democracy Spring. On Monday, over 400 people were arrested at our U.S. Capitol while participating in a nonviolent, nonpartisan sit-in to protest the corruption of big money in our politics and demand free and fair elections.

I opened up The Spokesman the following two mornings looking for something (anything) about this historical event and found nothing. Nothing on Democracy Spring, nothing on the 150-mile march from Philadelphia’s Liberty Bell to the capitol steps, nothing on the sit-ins scheduled to continue until April 18, and nothing on the 120,000 people protesting en masse in France, Germany, Belgium and Spain against increasing inequalities either.

All my life I’ve been told that I live in the greatest democracy on the planet. What a joke. Apparently our corporate media has been so corrupted by the demands of the rich and powerful that they now refuse to shine any light on those who rise up for freedom, equality and democracy.

This country has become a plutocracy. Shame on all who are complicit.
