Pot access too easy

Did you know that, overall, in the state of Washington we spend more money on marijuana than on milk and bread? For the last few weeks, we have been learning about drugs and alcohol in health class. We’ve watched numerous videos and listened to many lectures about the effects of marijuana on your mind, body and future.

And in every video and every lecture, they always ask the question “Why?” “Why do you do marijuana when you know you could end up in jail? Why do you drive under the influence?”

Marijuana may only be legalized for people 21 and over, but is that really going to stop high-schoolers from using it? 40 percent of teens use marijuana a year. Legalizing marijuana makes it much easier for teens to get their hands on it, regardless of the age limit.

Adults scold and chastise us every day about using marijuana and alcohol, but they’re the ones who legalized it. If we want to keep teens in school and out of jail, we simply cannot make it so easy for them to get ahold of it.
