What was council afraid of?

Hmmm. So, let’s get this straight: The remaining members of our esteemed Spokane Valley City Council have managed, through back-door shenanigans in one case and outright bullying tactics at council meetings in the other two cases, to get rid of a great city manager and two well-respected council members.

And now, they’ve awarded that city manager over $400,000, to keep from being sued, while promising to create a “more cohesive” council, i.e., with members they get to choose, as long as they’re not “duds,” as Councilman Ed Pace so eloquently put it.

Did we know this was what we were getting when we elected these people? How interesting that the settlement came with the caveat that the fired city manager can’t make any “negative, derogatory or disparaging remarks” about them. I wonder what they were afraid of.
