Spokane River reopened at Sullivan Bridge

PADDLING — The Spokane River in the vicinity of the Sullivan Road Bridge Replacement project has been reopened to floaters.

The river had been closed since Feb. 2 for safety reasons related to construction of the new (west) bridge. The stretch was reopened Thursday.

For safety, red and green markers have been placed identifying the channel in which river users must remain while passing through the construction zone below the Sullivan Road bridges.

City officials say river users should observe all appropriate safety precautions, wear U.S. Coast Guard-approved life vests and be aware of local river conditions.
