A reader of Huckleberries Online wonders why blustery North Idaho College Trustee Ron Nilson hasn’t shuffled off to buffalo as it appeared he would when he announced in a huff that he was resigning his post in May . In an op-ed article, Nilson claimed that NIC was in the middle of a hostile takeover. And he didn’t want to be part of it. Whatever that means.
Here we are three months later — and Nilson is still sticking around as a trustee. I checked yesterday to see whether he’d officially tendered his letter of recommendation. He hasn’t. So what’s up?
Trustee Christie Wood tells Huckleberries that Nilson wanted to be part of the board that officially welcomes new NIC President Richard MacLennan to his new school. That will occur at the August meeting. Nilson was part of the search committee that selected MacLennan. According to Trustee Wood, Nilson will officially resign on Aug. 31. At that time, the remaining four trustees will interview six people who applied for the board vacancy.
