Double murder suspect caught in Blackfoot

Double murder suspect Gilberto Delgado, from KHQ online post.

The man suspected of killing a brother and sister Monday morning in Spokane Valley has been arrested in southeastern Idaho.

Gilberto Delgado, 44, was arrested just after noon Tuesday in Blackfoot, about 25 miles from Pocatello, said Teresa Baker, a spokeswoman for the Idaho State Police. Undercover detectives followed him into a Taco Bell parking lot and waited for marked patrol cars to arrive, then arrested him without incident.

“It sounds like he didn’t put up too much of a fight,” Baker said.

A manager at the Taco Bell said the incident drew little attention from employees.

The ISP had been alerted by other agencies that Delgado would be traveling south on Interstate 15 in a black Dodge Dart, which matched the description of a car that fled the crime scene, Baker said.

Officers from the U.S. Marshal’s Office assisted in the arrest.

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office received what they described as a horrifying call at Monday morning from a 7-year-old boy who had just found his mother and uncle dead with bullet wounds inside a home at Sixth Avenue and Michigan Road in the east side of Spokane Valley/ SR.
