Idaho Territory license plate at risk of discontinuation; benefits local historical societies, museums

Here’s a news item from the Associated Press: LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — License plates honoring the 150th anniversary of the Idaho Territory are at risk of disappearing unless more history buffs step up to the plate. The Lewiston Tribune reports ( http://bit.ly/2bmNwS1 ) that only about 220 of the Idaho Territorial Sesquicentennial plates have been sold each year during the initial three-year grace period, but now that the grace period is over state law requires at least 1,000 plates be sold or renewed each year to keep the design in use. In the first four months of this year 14 new plates were sold and 55 were renewed for a total of 69 plates. The plate was first issued in July 2012 and features a replica of the territorial seal. Revenue from the plates helps fund county historical societies and museums around the state.
