Close call
Scanner Traffic is usually interesting, esp. when the scanner tells of activity happening near the SR’s Coeur d’Alene office. Yesterday, for example, I had been back from my walk along the waterfront for a short time when the dispatcher alerted CPD officers that a man with a knife was threatening people about a block away, near the CityLink bus stop to the south. A few moments later, the 911 dispatcher announced that employees at the Mobile gas station at Garden Avenue/NW Blvd had barricaded themselves in the business to protect themselves from the knife-wielding man. Then, the scanner reported the man was walking toward the Paul Bunyan restaurant next door.
At that point, I alerted a colleague about the potential danger, and another tenant on the first floor. By the time I poked my head out the door to see what was happening, 2 Coeur d’Alene police officers had contacted the man, who was sitting on the curb at Paul Bunyan restaurant. He wasn’t resisting them. Ultimately, the officers arrested the 54YO transient, charging him with 2 counts of aggravated assault.
That was the second time in a week that Scanner Traffic affected me. Earlier this week, a fire damaged the roof of a house in my neighborhood, the Borah Triangle.
Question: How often does something pop up in Scanner Traffic that affects you?
