A fool on 2 wheels
I’m pro-bicycle and bicyclist. But that doesn’t mean I’m blind to the faults of the biking public. Take the tall clown on a tall bike that buzzed past Mrs O & me while we were walking along West Lakeshore Drive, west of City Park, Saturday night. The Dike Road/West Lakeshore Drive was teeming with people, and this moron is riding 20+ mph on the bike lane line, a foot from my left shoulder. Without warning, he blasted past. If I’d stepped to the left, he and I would have been seriously injured. Idaho law requires bicyclists to warn pedestrians on sidewalks when the biker approaches from behind. Dunno if the Centennial Trail or the marked Dike Road walkway qualifies as a sidewalk. But I do know that few bicyclists warn when approaching from behind and that race-oriented bicyclists routinely ignore 15 mph speed limits along Centennial Trail. A pox on both types of bicyclists.
