An encounter with a Cubs fan

During my walk along the waterfront today, I encountered a older couple — even older than I am — who were looking out at our viewtiful lake from the boardwalk draw bridge. The fellow struck up a conversation when he noticed my San Francisco Giants hat. He’s a Cubs fan from Ventura, Calif., via Chicago. We struck up a conversation re: our teams’ chances of making the World Series and dispatching the Los Angeles Dodgers. Then, he asked for directions to the floating green and wondered if a visit to Kalispell, Mont., and Glacier National Park was worth the diversion. He and his wife are on a long, sight-seeing road trip with no particular destinations. Finally, he asked what I was doing. I said I was enjoying my lunch break walk along the waterfront. Then, taking in the scenery with a hand gesture, he asked where do people from Coeur d’Alene go when they retire? The answer was evident, except, of course, for snow birds who go south for the winter.

Question: Do you get responses to your garb when you where a ballcap or some other piece of clothing with a message or sports emblem on them?
