The sun’s rays beat down relentlessly on the group gathered for the noon water aerobics class at Terrace View Pool Aug. ust 17.
The 90-plus-degree heat would have kept many indoors near humming air-conditioners – but not Ruth Parman.
Instead, the energetic 96-year-old donned a floppy sunhat, some shades, a swimsuit and her blue water shoes, and drove to her neighborhood pool.
Born in Maryville, Missouri, in 1919, Ruth has always led an active life and sees no reason to slow down now/ Cindy Hval , SR. More here (subscription) .
DFO: At age 66, I’m becoming increasingly interested in older Seasoned Citizens who are still leading an active life. Many aren’t. I want to know what’s there secret. My friends often tell me not to worry because I have good genes. In other words, my mother is 91 and still going. However, I respond to them that she’s the only member of my family ever to hit 90. My aunts & uncles faded before or after the 80 mark. I’m even reading my AARP magazine now for tips.
Question: Are you concerned about growing older?
