Paying price for Kaepernick’s insult

On her Facebook page, Cindy takes aim at the decision by San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick to sit during the national anthem. Kaepernick said he is protesting the way African-Americans are treated by police:

Wasn’t going to weigh in on the Colin Kaepernick thing, but I’m getting ready for another War Bonds: Love Stories From the Greatest Generation reading tonight.

There is one passage I read at every event. It’s from chapter one which tells the story of Jerry Gleesing, a young pilot shot down on his second mission and taken captive by the Germans.

Of their camp’s liberation he said, “We saw the tanks come over the hill. Everyone was whooping and hollering. Then the American flag was raised, and it was dead silent.” His voice broke. “It was like coming home.”
So go ahead and sit on your butt during the National Anthem, Mr.Kaepernick. Men like Jerry Gleesing paid a high price for your privilege.
