Women in science
What does it look like to be a woman in science? Being a woman in science means having men explain things to you as if you were simple when you only needed a yes or no answer. It means being given the response, “But how are you going to be able to raise a family?” when stating you are following a doctoral degree.
It’s breathing a sigh of relief when seeing another woman walk into your first day in an engineering class. It means questioning whether to put away the makeup so others will take you seriously. It means hiding emotions because you must be seen as rational and logical. It means having a spark in the soul that cannot be put out by such actions.
Being a woman in science is a proud title, not some silly movement to diversify male-dominated fields.
