Should split the state
I see once again there is an interest in dividing Washington state. This would be a great thing for those of us who live on the East Side who are tired of those who live in Seattle getting to decide how the rest of the state is run.
Take the recent minimum wage increase, for instance. In four years Spokane businesses will have to pay $13.50 an hour for unskilled labor. Idaho will more than likely still be under $8 an hour. How will local businesses compete with Post Falls’ businesses? Who wouldn’t drive an extra 30 miles to save over a $100 on groceries, $5 on fuel and $10 on a meal?
Spokane businesses will fail and there won’t be any work locally unless we are successful in getting away from the left side of this progressive state. Why not give the businesses in Ellensburg the benefit Idaho would get instead? If Seattle’s consumers want a break, they can travel over the mountains and help our economy instead. It’s time the bulk of this mostly red state splits off from the blue crust on the edge. It would also mean we could decide who becomes president in the future.
