Chief in our midst

I’ve lived in Spokane for about 15 years, and I’ve watched chiefs of the Spokane Police Department come and go. Mostly go.

The powers that be seem to keep on trucking along, making the same bad decisions over and over again. In the Jan. 28 Spokesman-Review, an article outlined the qualities the police leadership advisory is looking for.

The qualifications they seek are admirable and appropriate. But we already have the man in our community. Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich is doing just that with his officers. He offered to take on this additional responsibility, and the city keeps turning him down. Why?
