Renters caught in Craigslist scam

Post Falls PD Swing Shift reports possible Nigerian ‘Craigslist Scam’ on Brookie Drive:

“(Reporting Party) is out $1,600 after attempting to rent a home. The female said she looked at the residence from the outside and sent what she thought the management company or owner the money via Western Union after filling out the rental agreement; however, when she went to move in, there wa s already somebody living there. The occupants also said they answered the add on Craigslist for the residence and just moved in. The investigating officer attempted to call the number back and spoke to a gentleman with a thick accent. It looks like this was an internet scam possibly coming out of the Nigeria region.”
