What a colossal waste of University of Idaho donors’ hard-earned money. Of course, we speak of the Fan Zone, the temporary building outside the Kibbie Dome that turned out to be even more temporary than expected after the first strong Palouse breeze. The university athletic department told us last fall they were just leasing the building for about $67,000. That in itself seemed a little pricey. But it was almost true as far as it went. It just didn’t go all the way to real honesty. That’s because we learned Saturday in the Daily News that the lease cost didn’t include the cost of setting up the building or taking it down. Add in those, and this misbegotten attempt to add some pre-game “vibrancy” to the hapless Vandals’ home football games totaled $489,346/ Lee Rozen , Moscow-Pullman Daily News Editorial Board.
