Candidate: Sheriff’s power tops all
Yesterday, I introduced you to Republican sheriff’s candidate John Green, who said in an interview posted on YouTube that he 100% supports forming an “organized militia” in Idaho that would combat the over reach — his words, not Huckleberries — of the federal government. Sheriff Ben Wolfinger countered today by saying the sheriff’s duty is to enforce the law not help form a militia, as Green mentioned in the interview. Today, I’d like to introduce another “constitutionalist sheriff” type running in the GOPrimary this spring for sheriff, Tina Kunishige. She posted a quotation (unknown author) that apparently sums up her philosophy re: a sheriff’s authority:
“the duly elected sheriff of a county is the highest law enforcement official within a county and has law enforcement powers EXCEEDING that of any other state OR federal official.”
- You can see more of posts like this on Kunishige’s candidate page on Facebook here.
