Reverse bathroom rule
I am writing to express my concern about the “open bathroom” rule, 162-32 WAC, enacted on Dec. 26. This rule threatens the safety of women and children, and also our freedom of speech.
Anyone who identifies as the opposite gender can enter that locker room, bathroom or shower facility. Our children do not have privacy or safety in their own school locker rooms or bathrooms. Our daughters may have to change in the same vicinity as a boy, no matter what his motives are for being there.
This rule also does not allow us to question someone from a different gender entering our restroom. A man can enter a women’s locker room without any of the women having the right to make a reasonable inquiry on why he is there.
This rule gives incredible opportunity to sexual predators while at the same time taking away our rights to try and protect ourselves from them. Anyone we love or ourselves could suffer consequences from this law if it is not repealed. I encourage your readers to visit the Family Policy Institute of Washington to find out ways to easily fight the open bathroom rule.
