Stuckart on right side

Spokane City Council President Ben Stuckart is right to urge the council’s cooperation with investigators examining Mayor David Condon.

In a Feb. 15 letter to the Spokesman-Review, Condon supporter Tom Keefe bristles at Stuckart stating, “Council is very committed to getting to the bottom of everything and making it as transparent as we can make it. Truth is the most important thing at this time.”

As mayor, Condon has used secrecy, manipulation and large amounts of money to encourage the citizens of Spokane to forget about ethics in city politics. I bristle at the thought that we would be railroaded into complacency on this issue.

Since Condon is under fire for allegedly covering up a report that his police chief at the time, Frank Straub, sexually harassed and verbally assaulted a female employee for years, Condon, the police department and all city residents deserve a thorough and open investigation.

Stuckart is on the right side of this argument.
