More Idaho school districts relying on voter-approved extra tax levies
Total state education funding has finally inched above pre-recession levels, reports Idaho Education News, but still, more school districts are relying on extra help from local taxpayers. This year, 94 of Idaho’s 115 school districts will collect voter-approved supplemental property tax levies totaling more than $186.6 million. The number of districts with levies is up from 2014-15; so are total collections. Part of what’s changed: Schools are turning to the levies not for supplemental programs, but to cover day-to-day essentials. EdNews reporter Kevin Richert has a full report here .
