Simplot home demolition moving quickly…

Landmark home of the late J.R. Simplot is demolished in Boise on Monday (Betsy Z. Russell)

It didn’t take long today for much of the distinctive Simplot home atop its prominent green hill in Boise to disappear, as the Simplot family moves to demolish the long-vacant structure, once targeted to be Idaho’s official governor’s mansion. The family of the late billionaire said the demolition, which started today, could take up to 10 days. Once it’s complete, the family plans to raise the huge American flag that long flew over the home, and it will be all that’s left there. The family plans to continue to maintain the property.
