Plane slides off Spokane Airport runway

Spokane International Airport is temporarily closed after a United Airlines 737 slid off part of a runway in icy conditions around 6 a.m. No injuries have been reported. The flight was scheduled to depart for Denver at 5:38 a.m. before continuing on to Dallas. Airport personnel are helping United off-load the passengers and get the plane back on hard surface, a news release from the airport said. Airport staff are shuttling passengers back to the terminal. The closure is temporary until the airport can ensure adequate braking conditions on its runways, the release said. A Southwest Airlines flight from Boise that was due to land in Spokane around 7 a.m. was diverted back to Boise because of the closure, according to the airport’s website/ SR .
