Legislative leaders: School funding as top priority this year is ‘a given’

Legislative leaders from both parties are now addressing reporters at the AP Legislative Preview this morning, and there’s much agreement on a top priority: Education funding. “Staying on track from where we started last year – that seems to be a foregone conclusion,” said House Speaker Scott Bedke, R-Oakley. “It’s a given, that that’s what we’re going to do this year. I think that’s a pretty pervasive attitude.”

Senate Minority Leader Michelle Stennett, D-Ketchum, said, “We are committed to continued (progress in) education funding as the task force directed us to do. … That is our top priority.”
