Jeers to insurrection-loving Labrador
In his weekly Cheers & Jeers column, Opinion Editor Marty Trillhaase of the Lewiston Tribune gives JEERS … to Congressman Raul Labrador, R-Idaho:
On Wednesday, he cloaked protesters who by force of arms occupied the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge near Burns, Ore., with the mantle of “peaceful” civil disobedience. Labrador is referring to the group led by Ammon Bundy, which came to Burns to protest the pending imprisonment of local ranchers Dwight and Steven Hammond - and then staged its own standoff at the refuge.
“They’re trying to express their frustration,” Labrador said at a “Conversations with Conservatives” session. His comments were picked up by the Hill newspaper. “And I think civil disobedience has been something that for the most part the liberal media used to stand up for. But apparently there’s some exceptions to that. …
“You have all that frustration happening with the takeover of the lands by the federal government, with the unjust sentence, and you have just the frustration that they feel the federal government is not listening to them anymore,” the Idaho Republican said. “And that’s what leads to what so far has been a peaceful takeover of an abandoned building, by the way.”
By the way, if the building was abandoned, why are the heat and lights on?
By the way, there’s nothing “peaceful” about an armed group occupying a public building. More here.
