Huckleberries drives GOP cuh-razy

My Sunday Huckleberries column in the SR:

We now know why those “tricksy” – to use a word coined by Gollum – Kootenai County Republicans don’t circulate their proposed resolutions prior to regular or special meetings – the Huckleberries Online blog.

On Tuesday, a party heavyweight explained to unhappy precinct committee members why they hadn’t received copies of a mystery resolution prior to a special meeting. Mr. Big Deal didn’t want the resolution published on Huckleberries Online to be analyzed and criticized by blog commenters prior to the meeting. It has happened before. A year ago, a resolution calling for Idaho to be declared a Christian state caused a hubbub on the blog and beyond. Ultimately, it was rejected by a two-thirds vote of the central committee.

Last week, a group of precinct committee members asked for a special meeting to discuss a resolution that denounced the political action committee launched by Idaho Gov. Butch Otter. Tea party members who control the Kootenai County GOP are afraid that Otter will use his Otter PAC to seek revenge on them for backing a Hard Right opponent in the last gubernatorial election. The resolution passed overwhelmingly. The commenters at Huckleberries Online waited until the next day to savor the dysfunctionalism of Kootenai County R’s.

P’haps Kootenai County Republicans should adopt a resolution banning the mention of Huckleberries Online. The Blog That Shall Not Be Named has a nice ring to it. Full column here.

Question: Do you think old Butch will spend some of his PAC money to “fix” the Kootenai County GOTP Central Committee?
