Background checks reasonable
I recently purchased my first and, hopefully, last firearm. I fell on the side of needing it and not having it, and I pray that I never have to fire it due to a danger to myself or my family. I didn’t buy it now because I am concerned about not having the option in the future. Mine is for protection, plain and simple.
It’s a much more dangerous world than just a few years ago, not because of the number of guns out there, but because of a society that has decided everyone has a right to whatever they want; everyone has been victimized is some way. I don’t wish to join them.
I would have been disappointed if they hadn’t run a background check on me when I purchased the firearm. Why wouldn’t you want to weed out as many of those that shouldn’t be anywhere near a gun right off the bat?
In my opinion, those who oppose background checks when buying a gun have something to hide themselves, or want to deal with others that do. The devil is, as always, in the details of implementation. But the intent is reasonable and necessary.
