More gun than car deaths in Idaho

In a startling report issued Tuesday morning by the Washington, D.C.-based Violence Policy Center, gun deaths have now surpassed motor vehicle deaths in Idaho—one of 21 states and the District of Columbia that saw more gun deaths than motor vehicle deaths in 2014.
The study’s author, VPC Legislative Director Kristen Rand, said the statistics were “the direct result of the failure of policy makers to acknowledge and act on this ubiquitous and too-often ignored public health problem.” According to the study, 90 percent of American households have access to a motor vehicle, yet fewer than a third of American households have a gun. Still, there were 33,599 gun deaths compared to 35,647 motor vehicle deaths in 2014. In Idaho during 2014 there were 213 gun deaths versus 212 motor vehicle deaths/ George Prentice , Boise Weekly.
