Pass Toxic-Free Act

As a retired nurse and grandmother, children’s health is a special priority for me. I have just learned that many baby products contain chlorinated tris, which is known to cause cancer and early puberty. I am hopeful that Sen. Michael Baumgartner will join with others and vote to pass the Toxic-Free Kids and Families Act (HB 2545).

Assuming that most of these products, after their use, are disposed of in landfills or burned, I am curious about what dangers these toxins threaten in our groundwater and air quality. A review of the information found at various websites does not fully satisfy my concerns.

Both protection of children’s health and concern for the environment are valued by both political parties. Let’s get this legislation, which will ban these toxic products in the state of Washington, passed in this session.
