Tedder Industries buys Outlet Mall

A poster still hangs in a display window at the North Idaho Outlet Malls in Post Falls on Friday, January 22, 2016. Coeur d’Alene Area EDC will conduct a news conference at 2 p.m. today to make an announcement regarding the future of the North Idaho Outlet Malls. The press briefing will be held at Post Falls City Hall, 408 Spokane St, Post Falls, and will be conducted by Jobs Plus, and attended by community partners and stakeholders.

Tedder Industries, a North Idaho gun holster manufacturer, has purchased the outlet mall in Post Falls. The 6-year-old company will consolidate its operations in about half of the space. CEO Thomas Tedder said he’ll be looking for tenants to lease the rest of the space. “This won’t be an outlet anymore — I don’t think it works here,” said Tedder, who said he’ll be looking to transform the long-vacant stores to other uses besides retail. Tedder, 37, started the holster company in his kitchen. Tedder Industries now employs about 300 people. North Idaho is a good fit for a gun-related company, he said. “There is high gun ownership, and people aren’t afraid of guns on this area,” Tedder said. “When I hire someone, he already knows a lot about guns”/Becky Kramer, SR.
