Kustra: More BSU grads are staying, working in Idaho
BSU President Bob Kustra gave his budget pitch to state lawmakers today, as did ISU President Arthur Vailas. Kustra noted the recent headline about half of Idaho’s college graduates leaving the state within four years after graduation, and said, “That’s not what we are seeing with Boise State graduates.” Instead, he said, Idaho Department of Labor stats show 80 percent of BSU grads are working in Idaho one year after graduation, and 65 percent are working in Idaho five years after graduation.
BSU conducted additional research using its database of alumni, and found that five years after graduation, 44 percent of students who were out-of-staters when they arrived at the university were still in Idaho; and 83 percent of those who enrolled as in-state students were still in the state.
