NIC sets forums for prez search

Community members are welcome to participate in one of three public forums hosted by North Idaho College Monday, Feb. 1, to solicit input that will be used in the search for a new president at NIC. The public forums are scheduled for 8:30 a.m., 3 p.m., and 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, in the Edminster Student Union Building Lake Coeur d’Alene Room.

NIC is seeking public input for the development of a “presidential profile,” which is a document that details the qualities and characteristics sought in a new institutional leader. The presidential profile will be used throughout the presidential search process to replace NIC President Joe Dunlap, who plans to retire in June of this year. The NIC Board of Trustees recognizes that some of the following leadership qualities in a community college president will include:

  • Experience in academic and career technical education.
  • Experience and enthusiasm for community engagement.
  • Experience in fundraising, planning, and managing a budget that reflects the needs of the college and the community, among many other qualities.

The nationwide search is being guided by the Association of Community College Trustees and led by co-chairs from the NIC Board of Trustees and a search committee composed of NIC faculty, staff and students, and members of the community. Those unable to attend may also submit input to ACCT Search Consultant Julie Golder Alion at jgolder@acct.org or (202) 775-4466/ Tom Greene , NIC Press Room.
